I have encounter a spam attach on my Chinese MediaWiki Project for Acadia University. The spammer is using a Brazilian IP creating a lot of patterened names and its same-name random articles.
Besides the batch page delete tool provided with MediaWiki, there is an extension called CheckUser which can allow batch management of users and IPs.
The problem occurs at installing the CheckUser extension. After git check the plugin is unusable. Solved it by checking it out its release for 1.22 branch (REL1_22).
I also did an IP block on CloudFlare.
So far so good.
